Newport and Jackson County have officially achieved ACT Work Ready Community certification, joining an elite group of communities across the nation that can demonstrate and certify the quality of their workforce to potential employers.

The certification is based on the number of National Career Readiness Certificates earned by local workers. "This is a powerful tool for business recruitment," said NEDC Director Jon Chadwell. "We can now show employers with data that Newport has the skilled workforce they need."
