The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has designated sections of the Bayou Meto and Black River as official water trails, creating new paddling and outdoor recreation opportunities within easy reach of Newport.

The water trails offer guided and self-guided kayak and canoe trips through beautiful bottomland hardwood forests and scenic river corridors. Maps and access point information are available at the Chamber of Commerce.
